Statement from Humane Canada:
Success! On June 22, C-47 passed the Senate to become law, which includes a ban on cosmetic animal testing and trade! Earlier this month, we celebrated together as Bill S-5 became law, phasing out toxic chemical testing on animals! With the passing of these landmark bills, animals cannot be used in Canada to test cosmetics and hundreds of thousands of animals will be saved from painful testing of different harmful substances commonly used in our homes and everyday lives.

As Canada’s federation of SPCAs and humane societies, we work to end animal cruelty, improve animal protection and promote the humane treatment of all animals.

This affirmation was in part inspired by the words of the Honourable Murray Sinclair in his speeches to the Senate of Canada regarding Indigenous ways of knowing and animal welfare.
